ADD TEXTURE AND AWE
"We had great trust in the process and the balance of quality of finish and budget. We also had great respect for Bev and his advice throughout our initial design process, so the feeling we had that we engaged people who cared was important."
- Luke & Brooke, West Footscray -
Luke and Brooke first contacted us about renovating their West Footscray home in 2015. Bevan persuaded them not to rush into renovating as doing things too quickly can compromise the outcome. Two kids later, the family engaged RD Architecture to design a functional family home that BCT Group brought to life.
Luke and Brooke wanted more space as well as a better flowing layout leading onto the backyard. A kitchen that didn’t fill with smoke every time they cooked was a must and as the kids grew they figured a second bathroom would come in handy.
The original house had a central kitchen, one bathroom and a laundry. With only one small door leading to the backyard, it felt awkward and pokey. We added a new ensuite off the master bedroom, a spacious family bathroom to service the remaining two bedrooms and a second multi-purpose living area. The rear part of house was opened up with the addition of a large open-plan kitchen, dining and living area leading onto an impressive deck with built in BBQ bench and integrated storage.
Luke and Brooke worked with our interior designer to select a range of stunning fixtures and fittings for their home. Standout features include the solid timber Blackbutt flooring, the textured timber cabinetry in the hallway, the kitchen island featuring a Terrazzo benchtop from Signorino, and the Japanese Impression Sky Sticks Mosaic tiles in the bathroom from National Tiles.
Luke says, “It's super early, we've only been in for three weeks, although we're already starting to feel settled. We know that once the warmer days arrive we'll have the house all opened up, and we can imagine friends/family enjoying the open space.”
The couple had a positive experience working with BCT Group and we loved delivering their magnificent family home. When asked to reflect on the experience, Luke and Brooke said,
“We're incredibly happy with the end result, and that fact that there weren't any surprises through the process that affected our experience as first time renovators. We couldn't speak more highly of project carpenter, Cameron and how much he helped us through the process. He gave great advice, listened to us when we cared about a certain item, and also pushed back on us in a manor that we know came from experience."
