Breathing new life into an old weatherboard

Retirees Michael and Moyra McNamara were looking to refresh their weatherboard home in Yarraville by renovating their kitchen and bathroom and extending their sun room. They wanted a larger living space and were looking to increase the width of the back area of the house from 2.4m to 3.5m.

After a referral from the HIA website, Bevan from BCT Group got in touch with Michael to discuss their renovation project and review the preliminary plans. Bevan then suggested that they have some more detailed plans drawn up by James Goodlet at AlterEco.

Once the plans were finalised, Bevan worked with Michael and Moyra to ensure the project fitted within their budget.

Michael and Moyra were thrilled that the project was completed within 10 weeks and to an exceptionally high standard. They now have a spacious hallway with built in storage and a skylight that leads into a study area with a lovely view onto the timber deck. Their new kitchen is bright and functional and their large living area is flooded with natural light making the home feel spacious and welcoming. The new bathroom with shower and bath is fresh, modern and practical.

The older part of the home blends beautifully with the new extension and the McNamaras are delighted with the transformation.

Mark and Terri-Lyn love the location of their large family home in Essendon so decided to give it a bit of love with an extensive renovation. They engaged BCT Group to totally transform their large double-storey home by renovating all the existing rooms and improving the layout.

The staircase was moved and the two downstairs bedrooms now share a light and bright bathroom. The formal lounge, dining room and kitchen have been "opened up" and now lead onto a large loungeroom with sliding doors onto a spacious deck. Downstairs also features a powder room and separate laundry.

Upstairs there are two renovated bedrooms and a bathroom for their two daughters who are living at home.Their middle daughter recently got married and has flown the coop.

Mark and Terri-Lyn are loving their shiney new home and are looking forward to sharing it with their friends and family.
