Highton 

Our 249 Highton clients engaged BCT Group to design a new family home at the rear of their existing property, with a focus on creating a functional, marketable residence that balances contemporary design with cost-effective construction. With plans to sell the home upon completion, we carefully considered every aspect of the design to maximise appeal, functionality and value while remaining budget-conscious.

The brief called for a spacious four-bedroom family home that felt warm, inviting and thoughtfully designed, avoiding the generic feel often associated with project homes. Through smart space planning, flexible breakout zones and strong indoor-outdoor connections, we created a home tailored to modern family living.

​

At the heart of the design is a generous open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. Large opening doors connect seamlessly to the backyard, flooding the interior with natural light and enhancing outdoor entertaining opportunities. An electric fireplace positioned alongside the television creates a warm and welcoming focal point within the main living space.

To support a growing family's needs, we incorporated a private home office and an upstairs rumpus room, providing valuable spaces for work, study and recreation. The master suite serves as a private retreat with a walk-in robe and ensuite, while the remaining bedrooms are generously sized to accommodate queen beds and built-in robes, ensuring lasting functionality and broad market appeal.

Practicality was a key consideration throughout the project. A combined laundry and mudroom with direct garage access creates an efficient everyday transition space, helping maintain an organised home environment. Externally, a refined material palette of render and timber accents delivers a timeless contemporary aesthetic that prioritises warmth, quality and lasting appeal.

The result is a contemporary family home that successfully balances lifestyle and investment objectives. Through thoughtful planning, efficient use of space and carefully selected materials, we delivered a welcoming and highly functional residence designed to appeal to modern families while maximising resale potential.
