How to pick the perfect tiles for your home.

Updated: Nov 15, 2021

When you're renovating you'll have a lot of decisions to make about your fixtures and fittings. From bench tops and paint colours to timber flooring and tiles, the options are endless.

Your choice of tiles can have a big impact on the overall look of your home. Far from being a stand-alone necessity in a wet area, today’s tile designs feature exciting and bold patterns and can be used in fresh new ways to introduce colour, texture and movement.

Whether it’s traditional encaustic tiles, modern geometrics, organic textures or classic cut tiles, the key to creating a well-defined space with tiles is to let them be the hero of the room.

Grey tiles with timber features in an ensuite
Grey tiles created a modern look at our Yarraville project.

After a chic contemporary look? Use grey and white based tiles with natural materials such as wood and concrete. Our Yarraville clients chose a large grey tile for their ensuite and mixed it with engineered oak and black tap ware to create a modern and inviting space.

Marble wall tiles in an ensuite
Large wall tiles create a sense of space, like these marble look tiles at our Williamstown project.

For small-sized bathrooms and laundries, use large scale tiles like the marble look tiles seen on the walls at our Williamstown renovation project. Larger tiles result in fewer grout lines which will make the space seem larger. Plus, there will be less grout to clean!

In Melbourne's inner west we are lucky to be surrounded by stunning heritage homes. If you prefer a more traditional interior, opt for an intricately patterned tile. It’ll bring a sense of nostalgia and quality craftsmanship to the design.

Keen to use introduce some pattern? Laying plain tiles in a herringbone or chevron pattern can make an affordable tile look extra luxe. Decorative tiles can also have a big impact in small spaces. Be bold and choose a decorative tile for your bathroom niches or kitchen splashback.

Lastly, a lot of people don’t think about grout colour when selecting tiles. Playing with grout colours is a simple yet effective way to add character and appeal.

Good design comes from the attention to detail so take your time when considering tile choice and application. The options are endless and offer a fantastic opportunity to create a space designed and styled just for you.

I really need to buy these shoes because I need them and can’t really afford them and I am waiting for that time when that is available in sale and according to Toowoomba tilers it’s really frustrating when you have favorite thing in market but can’t buy it.
